Workout of the Day A. 9x 3 Bench Press with 40% of 1RM against doubled orange bands (If your 1RM is under 90kg) or reds (If your 1RM is over 90kg). No bands for loads under 30kg. 3 sets close grip (index finger on smooth), 3 sets conventional grip (thumb's distance from smooth), 3 sets wide grip (pinky on powerlifting ring). Reps should be fast and smooth. Work together as a team to switch loading for each other and have the whole team try to complete a set each every 60 seconds or so - in a perfect world, a team of 3 athletes should be able to complete their entire volume of reps in 4.5 minutes with all 3 athletes switching in under the bar for a set every 30 seconds. B. Bench Press - Establish a heavy set of 8 reps without bands (near 8RM) C. 2 Mins max reps push ups D. 150 sit ups -untimed Information Weightlifting is on with Colette at 19.30 on Thursday night and at 10.00 this Saturday Morning. Workout of the Day In teams: Row 5000m 60 sumo deadlifts 40kg 25 synchronised burpees 50 sumo deadlifts 50kg 25 synchronised burpees 40 sumo deadlifts 60kg 25 synchronised burpees 30 sumo deadlifts 70kg 25 synchronised burpees 20 sumo deadlifts 80kg 25 synchronised burpees 10 sumo deadlifts 90kg 25 synchronised burpees Get yourself a pair of 10's, 5's, 20's and 15's for Rx - Scale as required. One athlete rows whilst another begins the deadlifts. One athlete deadlifts at a time. Divide the work and scale as required. During the burpees, all non-rowing athletes complete reps - chest and thighs must touch the floor at the same time and athletes jump and clap in unison. Don't underestimate the importance of sleep in your recovery. Workout of the Day 5x 5 Deadlift If you are doing this properly, you should already have a bit of fear. Scottish Functional Fitness Championships CFG's Teams closed out in 4th, 6th and 14th on the men's side of the house and 3rd and 14th on the ladies' side for the Rx Division. Our two Masters Training Staff closed out in 10th place while our rookie team took 12th out of the ladies teams in the scaled division. Today we are saddened by the greatest of all Greek tragedies - Maximos is leaving us to return to Greece. His time studying in Glasgow has drawn to a close and he must now return to his homeland to get a grown up's job. Max has been a great player in the CFG community and has been a regular fixture at the 18.15 WOD for what seems like forever and it is with deep sadness that we have to let him and his magnificent beard go on to other things. Today will be his final workout with us so if you see him, wish him a fond "apochairetismos".
