HOW DOES THE TRAINING WORK?
CrossFit at CrossFit Glasgow
Want to perform a push-up?
Dream of getting that first pull-up?
At CFG our members regularly accomplish these things and more. How? By incorporating these simple training protocols:
CrossFit uses basic movements found in every day life. Ones that build useful strength, fitness, coordination and capacity for life outside the gym. You might squat, lift, carry, run, row or work on bodyweight skills.
However, technique comes first. Our coaches teach the movements, help you choose an appropriate version of the workout and then build intensity as your ability and confidence improve.
Intensity is relative to the person doing the workout. We don’t expect anything from you except to try your best.
Your coach can adjust the weight, movement, repetitions and pace so that a complete beginner and an experienced athlete can train alongside each other safely and effectively.
As your fitness improves, the training progresses with you.
You are never expected to keep up with somebody else; the goal is to get the right training effect for you.
Every day is different. Not random.
Our programming combines strength work, conditioning, gymnastics and functional movements so you can improve across all areas of fitness rather than repeating the same routine.
You do not need previous CrossFit experience. The workout is coached and adapted to your current ability, while still giving you somewhere to progress.
The aim is simple: get fitter, get stronger and feel better.
By tracking your progress we don’t simply claim you are getting fitter, we prove it by testing and retesting throughout the year. So you can see the hard work paying off.
WHAT HAPPENS
What does a typical 60 minute class look like?
All our classes follow the same general structure. Workout duration can vary so each segment is tailored accordingly to offer maximum efficacy and enjoyment.
Brief
We meet at the whiteboard where a coach takes you through the workout, it's intent, the movements and how to scale them.
Warm-up
Starting with a general warm-up to get you moving and progressing into more specific movements that mimic the workout. All at your own pace.
Technique
A chance to learn and get feedback. For beginners this is a chance to stay light and practice reps.
For the experienced it is a chance to review technical ability and add load.
Workout
It's time for the workout. Under the watchful eye of your trainer who keeps you save and motivated.
Cooldown
Time to tidy up, stretch, chat or perform a finisher or challenge. An opportunity to let the body ramp down from exercise and connect with your peers.

What you get from a CrossFit class at CFG
Quality Coaching
Every class is coach-led: we explain the workout, teach technique, help you choose the right movements and loads, and coach you throughout the session.
Support & Accountability
Train alongside other people while a coach keeps the session moving. It is friendly, supportive and much harder to drift through a workout or lose motivation when people know your name and care when you show up.
Best hour of your day
For one hour life is simple. Turn up, let us coach and you train. The aim is for that hour to be effective, challenging, enjoyable and one of the best parts of your day.
Results
With these 3 pillars behind you, consistency follows and with that results. Weight loss, muscle gain, improved strength numbers and workout times.
Life outside the gym also improves. Play with your kids longer, go for a run on the weekend. Enjoy life on your feet!
