Physio Effect and Private Medical

Jonny and Danny of Physio Effect Glasgow offer a range of clinical and therapeutic services out of their clinic at CrossFit Glasgow and as Health Professions Council registered Physiotherapists are able to offer these services under private medical insurance. Many of you will have a private medical insurance policy through work or privately for your family and are probably unaware that this will likely offer coverage for physiotherapy services. If you have Private Medical Insurance with Physiotherapy cover and are injured, often all that is required is a letter from your G.P. referring you for physiotherapy treatment. Provided you have called the insurance company and have an authorisation code for your treatments, we will take care of the insurance billings. This leaves you free of the financial burden associated with a number of physiotherapy treatments that can be required to fix your injury and return you to optimal levels of performance. Physio Effect  are recognised providers for PruHealth, Aviva, Simply Health, WPA and Cigna. Jonny can also provide services to Bupa and AXA - PPP outside of Physio Effect. Anne and Kirsty have been setting the world of strongwoman alight and should drop some strength bombs; Red has returned to the fold for his first domestic competition since he got off the boat, Andrew "Hollywood" Macmaster will be showcasing all that he has worked for over the past year and Ally McGinnigle will be getting involved for his first ever Crossfit comp. Fundraiser For Kobe @CFEK

On Sunday 23rd June 2013, 12 year old Kobe Barber and a selection of his friends will be taking part in a sponsored "FIGHT GONE BAD" at CrossFit East Kilbride, with the help of CrossFit Glasgow, to raise funds for "Kobe's American Dream" and "NCDS". “Kobe’s American Dream" is a fund that was set up to assist financially with Kobe's selection for Team GB and their attendance at the AAU & FIRS World Inline Puck Hockey Championships being held in California this July. "NCDS" is the National Deaf Children’s Society. A charity set up to remove the barriers to the achievement of deaf children throughout the worldand is a charity dear to Kobe's heart as following an ear disease; he has been left partially deaf.  Kobe is proud of his sporting achievements despite his set back, and has pledged to donate 50% of all money raised to the charity. A: 30 GTOH 60/40kg Complete 6 bar jump burpees after every 6 reps - finish with 6 bar jump burpees. Feet should be firmly together during the burpees and the jumps over the bar should be two footed. B: 3-3-3-3-3 Front squats Female athletes should complete section A prior to the squats while the Males do the opposite. Tonight Jonny Kilpatrick of Physio Effect will be running a mobility session in place of the 19.15 WOD. We will be closed this Friday in order to maintain our equipment and facility in order to keep it running as one of the UK's premium CrossFit boxes. Team Linda As a thank you for your patience during the routine maintenance of our kit and facility, CrossFit Glasgow will be running a version of the Hybrid Athletics 'Team Linda' competition on Sunday. Organise yourselves into teams of 3 and prepare for a rough one. Linda (AKA the 3 Bars of Death) 10-1 Bench Press (100% BW) Clean (75%BW) Deadlift (150%BW) Teams will weigh in at 9am. We will total the combined weight of the 3 team members and then average them.  The barbells will be set according to the average weight.  For example…Athlete A is 78kg.  Athlete B is 82kg.  Athlete C is 87kg.  The bars will be set up at the team’s average weight…83kg.  Squat Clean will be 62kg, Bench will be 83kg, Deadlift will be 125kg. Tonight, Jonny Kilpatrick of Physio Effect will be holding another informative journey through the pain cave to meet your power animal. He'll limber up your dysfunctional joints and send you from pain to performance. Be sure to congratulate him on his epic 140kg 20rep max back squat. The class will run from 19.15, taking the place of the WOD.

In Teams 3x 10 minute AMRAP 200m Row 10x Burpees 15x KBS 24/16 20x Wall Ball Throws 20/14 25x Jumping Lunges (25 Total, alternate legs, fully extend at the hip) Rest 3 Minutes You may not overtake the team member in front of you. Each completed station earns the team one point. There are no points awarded for incomplete stations. Jonny's mobility class will take place tomorrow evening instead of the 19.15 WOD and will help you to develop a range of techniques that you can utilise to progress your range of motion in your own time as well as giving you a thorough mobility session in its own right. He also has a new range of sweet tees if you are so inclined. Girls' WOD will take place on Saturday at 11am. All male athletes should be finished their workout by this time and anyone turning up late will be politely asked to leave. This time is deliberately set aside so that our female athletes, especially the new ones, can work on the skills and lifts that are typically troublesome for them. Please allow them to do so in an organised, comfortable and focussed environment. The gym will be closed immediately after this WOD. Thank you for your assistance with this.
