CFG Weekly Update 19th October 2020

By |2020-10-19T08:45:33+01:00October 19th, 2020|Weekly Update|

Good Evening Team! That’s our first week in the books with the latest guidance and regulations, which we are hoping are short term!  Thank you once again for your incredible patience with us as we all found our feet this week with the new arrangements.  For anyone that didn't manage this week, next week will be set up the same way.  Every WOD is released on Wodify and also printed out and set in each station for you to choose from.  All workouts will have ‘RX’ (prescribed weight/reps), a scaled option (lower volume/weight) and a warmup.  There will also be suggestions below in which you can add on to your workouts if you finish early and also mobility work.  The rig area will have both a gymnastic and strength session to choose from.  We will have at least one trainer on the floor and often two, they are there to help, cue, correct and answer absolutely any questions you may have.  It’s not ideal, we know.  It is, however, keeping our doors open so we can keep you, our incredible members, working towards getting stronger and staying healthy! NEW AIR PURIFICATION UNIT We have purchased and installed an air purification unit in the gym.  The unit uses a combination of Hepa filtration, UV light, plasma and ozone to kill viruses and bacteria.  Throughout the day, air from the gym is drawn into the unit, filtered and sterilised; by night, the unit pumps ozone and hydrogen peroxide into the archway to sterilise surfaces and [...]

Hello Again Team!A cold week but no crazy rain so that has been a great help for those waiting to get in the gym before class starts!  Please dress for the weather, hats, coats, umbrella’s whatever you need, so you can keep warm and dry out there.  Below we have attached a healthy recipe to warm you from the inside out as we move into proper autumn/winter weather!  Thank you all again for continuing to adhere to social distancing as you queue for class, wearing a face covering both outside and inside the gym when out of your workout bays.  This is a massive help to us and continues to serve our community to keep us open! We are expecting an inspection over the next week or so and we are really confident that, because of your help, we will be absolutely fine. REFER A FRIEND Refer a Friend!  A post went up for this already, but just to remind everyone that we have this running for the month of October.  Deal is if you get a friend to sign up you will receive £10 off your next invoice and your friend will get £10 off their first month with us! LATE CANCELLATIONS & NO SHOWS The 06:30 and 07:30 classes (along with a few evening classes) are starting to fill up fast with bookings.  However, we have seen a trend of last minute cancellations which leave spaces in our classes and prevent other members from booking those slots.  These late cancellations [...]

CFG Weekly Update Sept 14 2020

By |2020-09-14T08:29:59+01:00September 14th, 2020|Weekly Update|

Hey Team! That’s now 2 weeks in the books!  We are delighted to welcome many new members into our community within the last 2 weeks and happy to see everyone settling into the new routine so well with both the new class structure and COVID regulations.  So if you see a new face - please say hello! Most of you have taken very well to the new guidance of wearing masks outside the gym whilst queuing for class and until you are in your workout station.  Please keep it up!  We also would like to highlight the tops off situation just now.  Moving forward, if we could all be vigilant in keeping our tops on, this minimises the cleaning for our team and also helps keep the workout bays dry for the next class coming in.  Skipping RopesWorkouts with skipping, we do have ropes, however it’s tricky to get the adequate ropes to you during a workout with different height requirements.  Ideally if you could bring your ropes to class that would be appreciated.  If you don’t have ropes, we have some low budget ropes that will be available to purchase early this week on our online store to get you started.  They won’t take you to the games but they will do the job just now!   CrossFit Glasgow ShopBike Racks:Bike lock-ups are now in place outside the building.  There will be locks available this coming week (they are on order) to borrow if required.  We would ask you to utilize these lock-ups [...]

Just mention to a member of our team that you have an order to pick up and they will get it to you at the end of your session. CFG Weekly Update August 24th 2020

By |2020-08-24T06:42:22+01:00August 24th, 2020|Weekly Update|

https://youtu.be/BD7sqZnB5bM Team! We are delighted to announce that we will be opening our doors to physical classes on the proposed date of Monday 31st August, unless told otherwise.  Also the outdoor classes for this week coming will have a capacity of 12 per class. The past six months of closure was incredibly hard. We are so thankful for all of your patience and support, without this amazing community we could well have lost everything we have worked so hard for!  In order to express our gratitude we have made very definite plans to create the best CrossFit training facility in the world and hope that you will join us as we move into a bright new future together. We have been busy during lockdown making some much needed changes to both the exterior and interior of the gym; purchased some kit to ensure we can provide classes without the need to share any equipment and made some wide reaching changes to our systems processes and core objectives. We have made physical changes to the gym in order to clean and update the interior and make it a more efficient, welcoming and attractive facility and we have taken steps to improve our local environment by updating and restoring the outside of the facility and the street, removing weeds and graffiti. We are committed to making CFG a place that everyone is proud of and an asset to the City of Glasgow. There are more immediate changes, but these ones are different. [...]

CFG Weekly Update 17th August 2020

By |2020-08-17T10:27:51+01:00August 17th, 2020|Weekly Update|

Hi All, First official day of ‘Clydeside’ Outdoor HomeWOD was a great success this past Thursday!  Classes are open to reserve 36 hours prior to class starting and must be booked through Wodify under ‘HomeWOD’.  Meeting point is in front of CFG, please come prepared with whatever equipment is required and be mindful of social distancing.  We have programmed for Mon/Tues and Thurs specifically with these outdoor sessions in mind.  Hopefully the weather holds out this month and into September for us!  Look out on Wodify, FB and your email if the weather is particularly bad as the class may be cancelled. ACCOUNTABILITY CHALLENGE With us entering what is hopefully our final month before re-opening the gym there is a mix of excitement and concern, not just over the pandemic but over how much we have let ourselves go. In order to be ready I (Iain) am starting a 30 day challenge which kicked off this past Thursday, however it is not too late to join in!  The purpose of this is to start developing better habits before getting back to the gym, to get my body into a routine so I can hit the ground running. So for the 30 days I will try to train 5-6x a week, eat 3 balanced meals a day, get 8 hours sleep a night and minimise intake of some vices (alcohol and crisps for me). I want to invite you to join me, this is an opportunity to get as healthy as [...]

Hi All,A few things on the go this week.  First of all: outstanding effort in meeting up with one another in various parks around the city!  The news we’ve been waiting for all week has finally been announced; we can now work with unlimited groups of 4 people per day.  We are in the process of working out the details of when and where, stay tuned for details to come early this week. However, there is some sad news for us all: Khi Leonard, who has been a big part of CrossFit Glasgow for many years, leaves us this September to start an exciting new chapter of his life in New Zealand.  He joined our team starting with Mobility classes, over 5 years ago and then moved into Arch 1 as a trainer 3 years ago.  He has been a tremendous asset to our community and always brought such great energy, enthusiasm, sarcasm, laughter and often tears to his classes.  Over the years working at CFG, he has developed as a trainer by taking on the CrossFit L2, Gymnastics course and recently has passed his CrossFit L3, held by only 1% of all CrossFit Trainers worldwide.  Outstanding effort Khi!  He is hoping to continue his CrossFit journey in New Zealand, we wish him the absolute best and also his wife Raz as she settles into her new Physio job . You will be missed by all.  Unfortunately, due to COVID, our hands are tied at the moment for planning a big leaving [...]

CFG WEEKLY UPDATE Hi All, This week has had it’s ups and downs but let’s get the not-so-great news out of the way first: Gyms will not be open before the 14th of September. We cannot express how disappointed we are with the latest release of guidance for gyms; but neither can we express how grateful we are for the support that our community has shown us. We are blown away by the ongoing support we have and can’t thank you all enough. This announcement puts us 6 weeks away from opening our doors.  So that’s what we can’t do: get back together in the gym for training.  What we can do (and we did it on Friday) is meet up in small groups.  The trial on Friday was a great success and very much enjoyed by all who took part!  The situation is far from perfect as with the current guidance we can only meet up once a day with 4 other households, which doesn’t do a good job of servicing our 400 strong community (even with our lower numbers). Legally, we aren’t able to provide a full service to sufficient numbers but we are doing what we can within the guidance. With this in mind, we would encourage you to meet with one another to train responsibly within government guidelines. Hopefully we will know on Monday what changes might be put in place to help us and potentially look at expanding to a few informal classes through the [...]
