The year ahead

In the New Year there is going to be a new focus on the programming at CrossFit Glasgow. Strength will still feature on a weekly basis, however due to the CrossFit Open coming up in February we will look at our technical capabilities and overall proficiency at metcons. This means that you should expect to see a lot of gymnastic movements and interval training. 2011 has been a great start for CFG and I can't believe that we are almost at capacity so soon, however January is bound to bring in some new faces and help develop the CrossFit community in Glasgow.  If you have any friends or family who are thinking of joining then please ask them to get in touch sooner rather than later as they may have missed their chance.  We are particularly looking for members for morning and lunchtime classes (and possibly late evenings 19.15). If you have any events or functions that you would like us to be a part of then again, get in touch. There is a lot of talk on facebook of the Tough Mudder and  Spartan Race events, it would be great to put in a team! With the shift in programming it is important for you all to listen to your body.  It is likely that you haven't been exercising or maintaining your diet quite so well these past few weeks and with the shift to a lighter/faster pace it is likely to be a shock to the [...]

Progress!

There has been a lot of progress at CrossFit Glasgow since our last update on Sunday. The flooring arrived on Monday, the wall ball/hspu wall went up on Tuesday (and came down again and was rebuilt on Thursday, but it's best not to mention that in front of Gavin), wood for boxes arrived and the steel was sent off to the welder on Wednesday, and the Rogue gear finally arrived on Thursday. It fell off the back of a truck. Literally. We've been painting the walls, glossing the skirting and doors and cleaning furiously in hope of reaching our goal of opening on Monday 5 September. A huge thanks to all who have helped, whether it was painting, sawing, hoovering, driving a van or just popping by to say hello, your support is greatly appreciated. Apologies that we did not put the membership prices up on the website or activate the MINDBODY class booking system yesterday as promised, but we were too busy unpacking our new toys, hammering nails into boxes and getting high on gloss paint fumes. We aim to get this up and running by Saturday. As mentioned above, if all goes to plan we aim to be open on Monday and will offer a week of free membership, so please do come in and visit and get a feel of the place. We do hope you like it! Work begins at CrossFit Glasgow! After a fantastic weekend at Stuart and Elaine's wedding (awesome) work started today at the new gym.  A large number showed up in support and the space was quickly dusted, mopped and cleaned multiple times in preparation for the flooring arriving on Monday. Equipment follows on Tuesday.  We are well on track to be open by September 5th however if you can't wait until then please contact me on my mobile number and stop by and see the space.  We are always looking for willing painters, tilers, welders etc so if you have any skills and some free time then let us know. Membership prices will be published from Thursday and the online booking system will also begin to work from the 1st of September to give you time to familiarise yourself with the system. For more photos from today please see our Flickr page.
