CrossFit Glasgow is a legitimate, registered CrossFit affiliate gym. We pay an annual licence fee to CrossFit Inc to utilise the brand name in reference to the training methodology we provide. Our coaches have, at their own expense, invested in specialist training to bring the very best that CrossFit has to offer and the value of the training they provide lies in the expert knowledge they have received through exposure to the world's best coaches. As CrossFit develops and gains popularity we will encounter more of a small minority who want to use the CrossFit brand name to push their own business without investing in the ethos or necessary training. CrossFit is a registered trademark used under licence by legitimate affiliate gyms throughout the world yet some individuals without any sense of the community or skill in coaching the necessary components will try to pass off an inferior product under the CrossFit name simply because they know it is popular. They are making the money out of the hard work of other legitimate facilities and are acting illegally. Facilities that offer a substandard product dilute the standards and misrepresent the methodology in an way that cheapens the hard work of the affiliates and their members. If you have heard anyone suggesting that CrossFit is dangerous, "just circuits" or that it has no attention to standards of movement or athlete development through sensible programming; it is likely as a result of exposure to a poor imitation of what we produce here [...]
