CFG Weekly Update 22nd March

By |2021-03-24T14:23:27+00:00March 24th, 2021|Weekly Update|

Hey Team, Welcome to the weekly Open round up, sports fans. We’ll be showcasing the best performances and keeping you up to date on where team CFG is placed on the leaderboard.First we would like to thank each and every one of you for signing up to the Open. We closed out with 174 registered, which placed us 3rd in Europe and 16th in the world for sign ups.We continue our 11 year dynasty as the largest team in the U.K. and set ourselves apart as one of the greatest communities in the history of CrossFit. You literally inspire other gyms to do better.21.1 was a test of work capacity and upper body endurance. The technical aspects for the Rx division came from the inversion in the wall walk and from the higher skill requirement of the double under skip. The wall walk was an unusual surprise addition that favoured the smaller lighter athlete but all those with good gymnastic awareness were able to make headway in this curveball movement. At present the CrossFit Glasgow team is sat at 95th in Europe (top 40%) and 482nd worldwide (top 35%) based on our top 4 male and female scores with Ewan Cowden, Kyle Cowan, Robyn Wright and Cat Geurtsen providing the top scores this week.Ewan Cowden is currently ranked 44th in the U.K. whilst Robyn Wright debuts in the U.K. top 100 at 85th place!A special mention to our CrossFit Silvers who are sitting high in the foundations group!  Joan Geurtsen currently occupies [...]

CFG Newsletter Monday 1st April 2021

By |2021-03-02T08:25:47+00:00March 2nd, 2021|Weekly Update|

Hey Team,  Looks like it will be the end of April for us opening now and the Open will definitely be online.  We’re disappointed of course. But let’s pick it apart:Week 1 -this week (almost over) Colette’s coaching challenge is underway and the kids are back at nursery Week 2 -next week. Another Coach challenge from Ryan, who just signed up to the Open.Week 3- The Open starts Workout 21.1 with a historic first of being almost entirely onlineWeek 4 -Workout 21.2 - second week of the Open - we’ll have a good idea of the ones to watch in house and see where the Games athletes really stack up now that Matt Fraser is out of the equation. Could Rich Froning be back to clinch a 5th title . . .  thus forcing Fraser out of retirement for 2022 .. . . This is also a potential return to outdoor training for the Kids and Teens. Maybe more for us but no promises.Week 5 -Workout 21.3 - final week of the Open and we’ll see who from CFG will be getting sweet prizes for smashing their category. Those from CFG who have access to fully loaded home gyms could potentially book their spots to the quarter finals.Week 6 -Start of April and end of full lockdown. We start the countdown to our glorious return.Once we’re back in the gym we ‘should’ stay there and conditions ‘should’ improve over the rest of the year with more vaccines and a lessening of restrictions. We [...]

CFG Weekly Update 19th October 2020

By |2020-10-19T08:45:33+01:00October 19th, 2020|Weekly Update|

Good Evening Team! That’s our first week in the books with the latest guidance and regulations, which we are hoping are short term!  Thank you once again for your incredible patience with us as we all found our feet this week with the new arrangements.  For anyone that didn't manage this week, next week will be set up the same way.  Every WOD is released on Wodify and also printed out and set in each station for you to choose from.  All workouts will have ‘RX’ (prescribed weight/reps), a scaled option (lower volume/weight) and a warmup.  There will also be suggestions below in which you can add on to your workouts if you finish early and also mobility work.  The rig area will have both a gymnastic and strength session to choose from.  We will have at least one trainer on the floor and often two, they are there to help, cue, correct and answer absolutely any questions you may have.  It’s not ideal, we know.  It is, however, keeping our doors open so we can keep you, our incredible members, working towards getting stronger and staying healthy! NEW AIR PURIFICATION UNIT We have purchased and installed an air purification unit in the gym.  The unit uses a combination of Hepa filtration, UV light, plasma and ozone to kill viruses and bacteria.  Throughout the day, air from the gym is drawn into the unit, filtered and sterilised; by night, the unit pumps ozone and hydrogen peroxide into the archway to sterilise surfaces and [...]
