Competitor Cell
Massive Congratulations to our Competitor Cell athletes representing CFG at the Team Thorium 2 and Pound for Pound competitions this weekend. More and more of our athletes are stepping up to the plate to demonstrate the progress that they have made at CFG by representing their gym in competitive events. As Coaches there is nothing better than seeing members of the community progress themselves physically to the extent that they are confident that they are fitter than other people. To those that have donned the glorious red and black this weekend we extend our heartfelt thanks.
Here are the standings:
Team Thorium 2
CFG Team Lima: (Greg McClure & Dean Mcmenamin) 17th Overall (Males 18-34)
CFG Team Mike: (Stewart Macaulay & Andy McAllister) 1st Overall (Males 40-44)
Great performances by both teams with Lima notably taking a top 3 finish in WOD 1 but the real stars of the comp were Mike dominating the competition from the get go. Stewart and Andy smashed the first two events coming first place in each and set the standard for the youngsters by going unbroken on WOD 2. It’s worth mentioning that Stewart is officially Scotland’s No. 1 athlete in his age category according to the CrossFit Games website.
Pound for Pound
Colette Will & Kimberley Ross (10th Overall Tied)
Vivian Henry (28th Overall)
Bethany Davenport (34th Overall)
Dimitris Sergakis (8th Overall)
Some first time competition appearances for Vivian and Beth who performed admirably as rookie athletes – more to come from the dynamic duo we’re sure. Colette and Kimberley both proved their worth to the competitor Cell with some outstanding individual results: Kimberley’s strength and Metcon base shining through; while Colette’s background in Weightlifting and gymnastics made for some good viewing. Dimitris shone in the gymnastics events and came away with the best result of the weekend for CFG in Northampton.
Scale the Heights (Sun 14th June)
Cindy Wallis (7th Overall)
Cindy is a bit shy and retiring about these things so we won’t go over the top here. This was Cindy’s first competition and over the time that she has been with us she has dramatically improved her strength, Metcon and movement patterning. We couldn’t be more proud.
Overall, it has been amazing to have so many athletes go out prepared to represent their community and to put themselves out there just for the fun of the competition. Win or lose, these events are a great way to get involved with your fellow athletes and to feel the CFG community get behind you.
As much as any of the athletes, we thank those who went and supported this weekend. The backbone of CFG is built on the kindnesses and friendships that make up our community. We are nothing without each other. #weareCFG
