SILVERS AT CROSSFIT GLASGOW

Get stronger. Stay capable.
Keep doing the things you love.

Coached strength and fitness classes for adults aged 55+ in Glasgow.

Train for life on your feet; whether that means chasing the grandkids, enjoying a holiday, playing golf, cycling, carrying the IKEA flat pack or simply feeling stronger and more confident in everyday life.

WHAT IS SILVERS?

Train to enjoy life outside the gym

Silvers is our dedicated strength and conditioning programme for adults aged 55 and over.

It follows the principles of CrossFit: building strength, fitness and useful physical capacity through coached, varied training. There is a particular focus on strength work.

This is not about asking everyone to shift the same weight, move at the same speed or do the same version of a workout. Our coaches adjust training to suit the individual while still giving everyone something worthwhile to work towards.

Age changes how we apply the training. It does not remove the value of training hard, learning new things and getting stronger.

WHAT ARE YOU TRAINING FOR?

Train for life on your feet

Strength

Build and maintain the strength to lift, carry, climb stairs, get up from the floor and keep doing things for yourself.

Fitness & confidence

Improve your capacity to walk, travel, play sport and deal confidently with everyday challenge; even something as simple as feeling steadier when it is windy outside.

Keep doing what you love

Grandchildren, holidays, golf, cycling, gardening... fitness matters most when it makes the rest of life easier to enjoy.

AGE, EXPERIENCE AND ILLNESS

There is no minimum fitness standard

You do not need to already be strong, flexible or fit to join Silvers.

Some members have been active for years. Others have returned to exercise after long periods away. Our members arrive with different abilities, histories and confidence levels, and the training is adapted accordingly.

What matters most is effort. In Silvers, effort is celebrated more than ability. Nobody needs to keep up with the strongest or fittest person in the room.

WHAT IF I'VE HAD HEALTH PROBLEMS?

Our members have very different histories. Some have returned to exercise following major health events or treatment, including hip surgery, strokes and chemotherapy.

That does not mean exercise replaces medical care or rehabilitation. Where appropriate, and with relevant medical guidance, our coaches can adapt training around an individual’s current ability and limitations.

If you have a medical condition, recent surgery or concerns about starting exercise, speak to an appropriate healthcare professional and tell our coaching team before you begin.

WHEN ARE THE CLASSES?

Five weekday mornings

Monday — 11:30
Tuesday — 11:30
Wednesday — 10:00
Thursday — 11:30
Friday — 10:00

Regular weekday sessions mean you can build training into your routine and see familiar faces throughout the week.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A SILVERS CLASS?

Coached from start to finish

Every class is coached. We warm up together, explain and practise the movements, then work through the day’s training with appropriate options for each person.

Across the week you will work on strength, cardiovascular fitness, balance, coordination and useful movement. Two sessions each week place a particular emphasis on getting stronger.

You may squat to a different height, lift a different load, use a different piece of equipment or work at a different pace from the person next to you. The aim is the same: give you training that challenges you appropriately and helps you progress.

COME FOR THE TRAINING. STAY FOR THE PEOPLE.

A reason to get out, stay active and spend time with good people

Silvers has become its own friendship group within CFG. Members train with familiar faces throughout the week, encourage each other, celebrate effort and build genuine friendships along the way.

As we get older, regular opportunities to stay active and connected with other people can become increasingly valuable. Silvers provides both without forcing the social side. You can simply turn up, train and become part of the group naturally.

It is welcoming, it is fun, and nobody cares whether your best effort looks different from theirs.

WHY SILVERS AT CFG?

Proper coaching. Appropriate challenge. A group that wants you to do well.

Dedicated classes. Five Silvers sessions every week, Monday to Friday.

Coached training. You are not left alone with a programme or a row of machines. A coach leads the session and helps you throughout.

Strength matters. We deliberately train strength twice each week rather than treating older adults as fragile.

Everything can be adjusted. Load, range of motion, movement, pace and equipment can all be changed to suit the individual.

Effort is celebrated. What you put into the session matters more than comparing yourself with somebody else.
